This Japanese spa allows guests to bathe in a giant pool of maple syrup

Here is a pretty sweet idea. A spa in Japan has created a unique relaxation experience that allows visitors to bathe in a giant pool of maple syrup.

Located in Kanagawa Prefecture, near the iconic Mount Fuji, the Hakone Kowakien Yunessun Spa offers a decidedly quirky take on the traditional onsen or bathing experience by allowing guests to soak in a Jacuzzi style tub topped up with a mixture of maple syrup and vanilla scented water, with real maple syrup being added in three times a day. Introduced as part of the 60th anniversary of Moringa Hot Cake Mix, a pancake batter brand in Japan, the experience is available until 25 April.

The spa also offers a pool filled with red wine.

Guests can also soak in green tea.
While the maple syrup bath is running for a limited time only, the Yunessun Spa Resort also offers a range of other unique experiences including pools filled with red wine, green tea, chocolate, sake, and ramen. The tea soaking experience features locally grown leaves from the region, while the red wine bath is said to be rejuvenating for the body.

The attraction is open until April 25th. 

A range of ryokan in the Niigata Prefecture have recently begun offering sake baths also. It is thought that the amino acids contained in it are good for moisturising and softening the skin. More information on visiting the Kowakien Yunessun Spa is available at the official website.
